Illinois Senate Passes Civil Unions Bill

2010_12_1_gay_pride_illinois.gif Today is now a historic one in Illinois. The state Senate passed the civil union bill by a vote of 32-24-1. State Senator and mayoral candidate James Meeks, for what it's worth, voted no. Republican Sen. and Treasurer-elect Dan Rutherford voted in favor of the measure.

All that's left now is for Gov. Quinn to sign the bill into law.
