Windy City Rollers Tackle the Banked Track Saturday

2010_12_6_banked_track.jpg Saturday's roller derby contest between the Windy City Rollers All-Stars and the L.A. Derby Dolls All-Stars is going to have a neat little wrinkle that's a throwback to the sport's past. The two teams will be skating on a banked track.

Chicago is where banked track roller derby had its origins, so it's only fitting that the Rollers get a crack at skating one on their home turf at the UIC Pavilion. The Red Bull Banked Jam will also feature a halftime performance by Less Than Jake. Tickets for the 8 p.m. match (doors open at 7) can be purchased here.
