Countdown to Rahmageddon: Biting the Tongue for 11 Hours

By Chuck Sudo in News on Dec 15, 2010 4:15PM

We've been known to wield our tongue like a sword now and then and we've never had to sit through 11 hours worth of questioning while defending a candidacy for political office.

Knowing the stakes, give Rahm Emanuel a Mighty Marvel No-Prize for keeping his tongue and temper in check during a lengthy and, at times, tedious, second day of defending his residency bona fides. The questions ranged from probing attempts from lead attorney Burt Odelson to try and trip up Emanuel, to inquiries from the batshit-crazy fringe as to whether he's ever been a communist.

Through it all, Emanuel — as you can see from the photos — had a look on his face that said, "Bring it. I'm up in the polls. I can do this all night." Between the questions from objectors, Emanuel's attorneys steered his testimony back to reaffirming his intentions to move back to his Ravenswood home and thus, trying to strengthen the "government service" argument at the foundation of his defense.
