Countdown to Rahmageddon: What's in the Basement?

Are there or are there not Emanuel family possessions in the basement of his Ravenswood home being rented out by Rob Halpin? that was the question being posed yesterday as the residency challenges to Rahm Emanuel's mayoral candidacy continued.

Emanuel and his attorney's cited boxes of treasured family heirlooms, including china and the wedding dress of Emanuel's wife Amy rule as evidence that the former White House chief of staff intended to eventually move back to Chicago full-time. But Laurie Halpin, Rob Halpin's wife, said that if there are boxes in the basement, she couldn't find them.

Emanuel and his attorneys countered with family friend Mee Kim-Chavez, who testified that she helped Rule pack the boxes and that they're deadbolt locked in a crawspace in the basement to which the Halpins lack access.

A basement crawlspace with a deadbolt. We're having a hard time keeping from imagining some warped "People Underneath the Stairs" stuff going on in the Emanuel homestead reading that.
