Morning Box Score: Illini Football Team Routs Baylor, Illini Men's B-Ball Squad win Big Ten Opener

Illinois 38, Baylor 14: Illinois earned its first bowl victory in 11 years last night, as Mikel LeShoure ran for 184 yards and three touchdowns. LeShoure's performance helped him set five different school records. He now owns the Illini records for single-season rushing yards (1,697), single-season scoring (122 points), total touchdowns in a season (20), 100-yard rushing game in a season (9) and consecutive 100-yard rushing games (5). After the game, LeShoure was undecided as to whether he would return to Illinois for his senior season or declare for the NFL draft.


College Basketball

Illinois 87, Iowa 77: The Illini men's basketball team kicked off Big Ten play with a relatively easy win in Iowa City against the Hawkeyes, snapping a two-game losing streak in the process. Five Illini scored in double figures, led by Demetri McCamey's 20 points. The Illini also were red hot from three-point land early in the game, hitting their first seven treys and 11 of 13 from behind the arc.
