- Gothamist watched as a blizzard hit New York City and many streets were left unplowed as the Big Apple seemed unprepared to deal with the storm’s aftermath. Some have ventured, given emergency responders’ problems attending to 911 calls, that this is Mayor Bloomberg’s Katrina (or Waterloo). But there were some beautiful and funny moments...and moments where a tow truck pulled a plow into a parked car.
- Shanghaiist finds it a little hard to believe that CBS mistook Taipei for Hong Kong.
- Chicagoist was in year-end recap mode, naming Mayor Daley’s decision not to run for another term the most important news story of the year.
- Bostonist saw Boston's 2009 Green Line crash get resolved, legally speaking, 18 months later as crash text dummy Aiden Quinn pleaded guilty to causing the whole mess. We were also focused on saying goodbye to 2010, and adapting to snow. In other snow news, Shaquille O'Neal continued his 2010-2011 Tour of Crazy Goodness by giving us "Shaq on a Tube in snow." Skiers at Sugarloaf had less fun this week as a chairlift gave out, injuring several people.
- DCist took stock of 2010, counting down the year’s best concerts, movies, meals and drinks, photographs, and, of course, the funniest things that Washingtonians said when they thought no one was listening.
- Seattlest wrapped up the mother of all countdowns, hung its head at the defeatism of some of our local sports fans and broke news of a local start-up that lets you upload three possible outfits for, say, a job interview or first date, and get online fashion feedback.
- LAist got a rare glimpse of a street artist at work targeting an oil rig and a Disney billboard.
