Chico Releases Fund-Raising Numbers

Gery Chico became the first of the major mayoral candidates to release fund raising numbers. Chico released reports that showed he's raised $2.5 million for his mayoral campaign. In the process, Chico also fired a salvo in the direction of Rahm Emanuel by stating that 97 percent of his contributions have come from Chicagoans. Emanuel has held some very lucrative fund-raisers out of town.

Chico's schedule for January includes 47 fund-raisers. The amount of money and number of fundraisers are impressive, but are they enough to keep up with Emanuel, who's been raising money faster than a televangelist and has a Jan. 10 fundraiser scheduled at the House of Blues, headlined by Jennifer Hudson.
