More Vivian Maier News

While Kevin was wrapping up his story on Jeff Goldstein's collection of Vivian Maier photos, our friends over at Gaper's Block ran their own story on a third photography buff with a collection of Maier's photos.

Ron Slattery is best known as the man behind the photography website Big Happy Funhouse. Slattery tells GB's Kelly reaves that he bought a box of Maier's negatives from the same auction where Ron Maloof bought his, and even posted six of Maier's shots to Big Happy Funhouse in 2008. Slattery says that he and Maloof were in contact with each other about their respective collections, with Slattery giving Maloof advice about setting up a website to showcase the photography and even selling Maloof 1,000 rolls of Maier's film at $1 apiece to cover medical bills.

Now that the Maier story is breaking huge in the media, Slattery said that he feels slighted by the way Maloof seems to be cutting him out of the story and partnering with Goldstein. It's a very good report that you should take the time to read. But it also raises a question for us: just how much more of Vivian Maier's photography is out there?
