After four quarters of what seemed like a barely a one or two-point lead here and there, the Bulls finally prevailed over the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Celtics 90-79 Saturday night, avoiding a season-high third straight loss.
Derrick Rose lead the way with 36 points and set a career high for free throws made and attempted with a 15-for-19 performance. Carlos Boozer followed closely behind as always with 22 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Bulls held Boston to 5-of-17 shooting in the fourth quarter, holding Ray Allen and Paul Pierce to only one field goal attempt between them. Taj Gibson blocked four of Chicago's five shots in the period. Pierce had 21 points and Allen added 19 but the Bulls held the Celtics to 37 percent shooting and a season-low 12 assists for the team. Boston also forced 21 turnovers but was out-rebounded 48-27.
The Bulls will hit the hardwood again as they host Detroit Monday.
