Blackhawks Honor '61 Stanley Cup Champs

By Chuck Sudo in News on Jan 10, 2011 9:45PM

Prior to the Blackhawks 5-0 handling of the New York Islanders last night, the team took the time out to honor the 1960-61 team that was the last one to win the Stanley Cup prior to last season. Stan Mikita and Bobby Hull — now team ambassadors — were in attendance, as were Hall of Fame goalie Glenn Hall, Pierre Pilote, Ab McDonald, Wayne Hicks, Bill Hay and Eric Nesterenko (also known as Rob Lowe's father in Youngblood).

To a man, each of them talked about how they thought that their lone Stanley Cup title would be the first of many, only it was never to be. A reality the current club may be learning on the fly.
