Chico Picks Up Endorsements, Launches New Ads

2011_1_10_chico.jpg Mayoral hopeful Gery Chico spent some of that $2.5 million he's raised for his campaign on some brand spanking new ads that tout his life and career arc as "a Chicago story." Well, that's about as good a way of saying "troubleshooter for Richard Daley" as one can without bringing it up.

Chico also picked up the endorsement of Congressman Luis Gutierrez, who at one point considered himself a mayoral hopeful. In announcing his endorsement, Gutierrez tried to draw comparisons between Chico and the late Mayor Harold Washington:

“Harold worked hard to bring people together,” said Gutierrez in his speech at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen. “I see the same quality in Gery and I’m going to work hard with him to make sure our next mayor is someone for every neighborhood and every resident of our city.”

And here are Chico's new campaign ads.
