Snow Affecting Commutes, Flights

By Chuck Sudo in News on Jan 11, 2011 8:45PM

So it's been snowing steadily all day. And while it's pretty (and welcome, in some places), it could wreak just the slightest bit of havoc with the evening commute. Glad we work from home right now.

A winter weather advisory went into effect this morning. The light snow now falling is expected to continue through late evening, with more accumulation closer to the lake. Parts of Cook County have reported 4.5 inches of snow, while O'Hare Airport recorded 1.8 inches. That, apparently, is enough to cancel more than 450 flights at O'Hare and another 30 at Midway Airport. Flights still scheduled to depart are running an hour late at O'Hare (40 minutes at Midway).

In short, it's winter in Chicago.
