Daley Makes Aldermanic Appointments

By Chuck Sudo in News on Jan 13, 2011 2:24PM

Looks like that open casting call the city held to fill the aldermanic vacancies left by Toni Preckwinkle, Ed Smith and Tom Allen resulted in... Mayor Daley filling two of them with politically connected insiders. And to think we embellished our resume for nothing.

Taking over for Allen in the 38th Ward if Tim Cullerton, the city's First Deputy Building Commissioner and member of the powerful Cullerton family that's had a presence in City Council for 107 of the past 139 years. The vacancy Cullerton will now fill has long been known as "The Cullerton Seat.

Taking over for Smith in the 28th Ward is Maywood Village Manager Jason Ervin. Ervin just happens to be Smith's choice to succeed him in the 28th Ward.
