Carol Moseley Braun and William Walls Exchange Heated Words at Forum

At yesterday's forum for Chicago's mayoral candidates, Carol Moseley Braun and William "Dock" Walls got into a bit of a tiff as the night was coming to a close. When each candidate was asked why they were running for mayor only after Mayor Daley announced that he was retiring, Walls accused Braun of being "broke and corrupt." Braun fired back, asking Walls why he was running for mayor and thereby questioning his motives running for office.

Braun's financial situation has been a hot topic for a couple of weeks, and it looks like Walls pinched a very sensitive nerve. Aside from the tense exchange between Walls and Braun, yesterday's forum seemed to have gone smoothly as candidates discussed a wide range of topics such as reinvestment in neighborhoods, education, and crime. Even though the forum was open to all of the mayoral candidates, Gery Chico and Rahm Emanuel were noticeably absent from the forum.
