ButcherandLarder1 - small.jpg We got the news over the weekend that The Butcher & Larder was open for business! We knew during our visit that the time was coming soon, but it wasn't clear exactly when the big day would arrive. They opened on Sunday, and will be open today from 10-7. Rob Levitt wrote an evocative passage on his blog, Butcher's Grip, that will make you want to run right in and start gnawing on things:

"I am quite proud of our little deli case. It is replete with sausage, roast beef, chicken liver pâté and odd cuts like pork collar (we sold a lot of pork collar today!), jowls, sirloin tip marrow bones and the lonely spider steak (sold!). From the walk-in cooler I cut a beautiful bone-in ribeye, a three-pound pork chop, a hunk of beef navel and even fired up the band saw for some short ribs."

According to Twitter, Butcher & Larder will be offering up "maple, sage & black pepper breakfast sausage, B&L sausage, pork jowl, chickn liver paté, short ribs" today. Get in there, people! Butcher & Larder is closed on Tuesdays, so if you want a sample of this great new shop, go now.

Butcher and Larder is located at 1026 N. Milwaukee.
