Daley Ponders Future

By Chuck Sudo in News on Jan 20, 2011 2:45PM

Mayor Daley took the time to discuss his post-mayoral plans last night at the White House State Dinner for Chinese President Hu Jintao. His answers indicate a man who may have some short term problems handling not running a city. “For 30 years, I’ve had a schedule," Daley told the Sun-Times. But he does plan on writing a book and maybe teaching.

Daley gives a presentation to U of C's Booth School of Business every year. His long career as a chief executive gives him a major leg up in experience regarding urban affairs. Daley told Lynn Sweet that, if he does make the move to academia, he'd like to teach courses in leadership and government, with a focus on urban affairs.

Daley also said that he would love to publish a book, preferably on policy matters. But he would also like to publish a memoir. As to where his Mayoral papers would go, Daley isn't certain.
