It’s often said that there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Well, lucky for us, The Whistler doesn’t do lunch. The bar's known for its cocktails but they also release records of local rock acts through their namesake label, Whistler Records. Starting next month, they’ll be giving away one of the two items mentioned in the previous sentence free to the first 50 people who walk through the door...

Sorry to disappoint, but it’s records. Still, that means starting in February, on each Wednesday of the month, The Whistler will be giving away what they on their website described as “a new surprise from the Whistler Records catalog” to 50 people for the cost of nothing. It's part of the lounge's aptly named 50 New Records series. Furthermore, the Whistler site says that in future months will feature exclusive releases from local records and bands.

Whistler’s roster includes genre-smashing experimentalists Shapers (yay!) to hushed folkster In Tall Buildings (eh). Regardless how one feels Whistler Records’ roster, free is free. Just make sure you’re one of the first 50 patrons in the door starting Wednesday, February 2nd.
