Rahm Emanuel's list of big-whig backers, like R&B pop-star Jennifer Hudson, Bill Clinton and the president himself, Barack Obama, just got even longer today. The Huffington Post just announced that Wilco's main man, Chicago music-mainstay, Jeff Tweedy has joined the ranks to help get Emanuel raise funds for his mayoral campaign. Tweedy has often been known to support the political candidates and causes he believes in, having done concerts for Chicago Public Schools, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert's Rally to Restore Sanity and of course, the big cheese, Barack Obama.

The fundraiser for Emanuel's campaign will be held at The Park West on January 30 and will include a performance by JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound. The all-ages show starts at $85 for general admission, and costs $150 for guaranteed seating with one drink ticket. Yeah, we know, the price is pretty steep, but remember this is all going for campaign funding. Even though Emanuel has maintained a steady lead over opponents Carol Moseley Braun, Gery Chico, Miguel del Valle, Patricia Watkins and Dock Walls. Candidates must receive at least 50 percent of the vote in the February 22 primary to win outright, or a runoff will be held in April, so every celebrity, political figure willing to vouch for his candidacy is worth their weight in gold.
