Morning Box Score: Flyers Win Rematch Versus Hawks

Flyers 4, Blackhawks 1: The Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers have been on different paths since the Hawks clinched the Stanley Cup last season. While the Blackhawks were forced to retool their roster in order to get under the salary cap while still trying to remain competitive in the Western Conference, the Flyers roster and resultant chemistry has remained intact, and the Flyers have become the best team in the league.
In their only regular season matchup, the Flyers came to the United Center with a purpose, beating the Blackhawks 4-1. Jeff Carter scored two goals, Claude Giroux assisted on all four Philadelphia goals, and rookie goalie Sergei Bobrovsky was a stalwart between the nets, allowing only a late game penalty shot from Marian Hossa.
The loss was only the Hawks third in the month of January. Even though they're starting to see some days off after a whiplash start to the season, the Flyers clearly were the better team and have obviously taken last season's tightly contested Cup finals as motivation for this season.
