Yesterday, we brought you a modest, casual Valentine's day affair. We know that some of you want to be swept off your collective feet, and others want to do the sweeping. If your valentine is into fine dining in the finest of surroundings, consider booking at Tru for your V-day dinner. True, it may not be as trendy as Alinea or as challenging as Moto, but that might not be what you want on a romantic night out. Rather, relax back into subdued perfection.

Heather Shouse, writing in last week's Time Out Chicago, convinced us that Tru still has its luster. Tramonto and Gand may not be in the kitchen, but the new executive chef, Anthony Martin, has added a new twist to some old favorites and brightened up the menu. None of the dishes individually broke new culinary ground, but the entire experience was enough to earn Tru the title of an "iconic" restaurant. She put it better than we could: "There’s an entire population out there who willingly choose vanilla at 31 Flavors, who enjoy the sound of silence and the beauty in white over color. And that’s exactly who goes to Tru 2011." If that describes you or your valentine, book now.

Tru is offering a 9 course menu for valentine's day, either $185 for the Chef's Collection or $225 for the Valentine's Luxury collection. Reservations are available on either Sunday the 13th or Monday the 14th. For reservations, call Ruthann Gagnon at 312-202-0001.

Tru is located at 676 N. St. Clair Street.
