Over the past couple of years, the dinners Mindy Segal hosts to mark Hot Chocolate's anniversary have been circled in ink as must-attend events. Segal always corrals chefs and brewers who bring their "A" games to these dinners. And there's about eating fresh Lake Superior smelts from Paul Kahan while Black Sabbath blasts through the restaurant's sound system in the dead of winter that's just the kick in the ass we need for spring to get here already.

For this year's 6th anniversary dinner on Feb. 28, Segal is bringing an all-star female crew, serving up six courses paired with six beers. Segal calls this her "666" dinner The guest chefs include avec's Koren Grieveson, Stephanie Izard of Girl & the Goat, Naomi Pomeroy of Beast in Portland, Celina Tio of Kansas City's JULIAN and Missy Robins of New York City's A Voce. All the beers for this year's dinner will be provided by New Belgium brewing, whose CEO is also a woman in Kim Jordan.

Proceeds from the $200 dinner and the poster above (which will be sold that night for $25) will benefit Share Our Strength, the charity dedicated to getting rid of childhood hunger in America that Segal donates countless hours to volunteering and serves as co-chair for its Taste of the Nation event (Disclosure: I also serve on the planning committee for Taste of the Nation Chicago).

Hot Chocolate's "666" anniversary dinner. 7 p.m. February 28 at Hot Chocolate (1747 N. Damen Ave.). RSVP by calling 773-489-1747. Seats will sell out.
