- DCist, unlike its sister sites in New York and Boston, hadn’t gotten much snow so far this winter. That changed on Wednesday, when a blast of THUNDERSNOW slammed the District at rush hour, causing people to abandon their cars after sitting in total gridlock for hours. Then again, the storm did give us a chance to wake up our cranky staff meteorologist, report out heartwarming stories about one generous violinist, talk about new beers and laugh at “Ice Cream Man" photoshops, so it wasn’t all bad.
- Rahm Emanuel bookended an interesting week at Chicagoist. Monday came the shocking news the Illinois Appellate Court decided to remove the former White House Chief of Staff from next month’s mayoral election ballot, only to be overturned on appeal by the state Supreme Court late Thursday. Readers received a pocket primer on how Sriracha sauce is made. And Art Shay looked at the Bears-Packers rivalry from the Green Bay side.
- Seattlest discussed book lust with Library Journal's librarian of the year, Nancy Pearl and discussed our disdain for the word “foodies"...in between doing unseemly things to goats, of course.
