Last Minute Plans: Tiki Menu at The Whistler

2009_7_7zombie.jpg We make no secret of our tiki obsession, having covered the re-opening of Trader Vic's, provided more than one Mai Tai recipe, and told you about the best tropical drink cocktail book in the world, Beachbum Berry Remixed. That book is the focus of tonight's Book Club at The Whistler, which is transforming itself into a tiki den for one night only.

According to the website:

The selections within are a combination of newly discovered vintage recipes from the 1930s-1960s and the best new recipes of the current Tiki revival. The Whistler’s tiki menu will pull selections from both movements, from the quintessential Zombie and Scorpion cocktails, to the modern Jamaican Divorce and Pk Lei.

Until a rum paradise such as San Francisco's Smuggler's Cove opens a Chicago outpost, tonight at The Whistler will have to do. The tiki action runs wet and wild till close, 2am.

The Whistler is located at 2421 N. Milwaukee Ave.
