Braun Offers Apology to Watkins (Sort Of)

By Chuck Sudo in News on Feb 1, 2011 8:20PM

Flanked by Congressmen Danny Davis and Bobby Rush, Carol Moseley Braun offered a public apology to Patricia Van Pelt Watkins for saying she was "strung out on crack" at Sunday's mayoral forum. Reading from a prepared statement, Braun said, “Patricia Watkins said she does not expect an apology from me. She is wrong."

Even doing that, it didn't seem possible for Braun to screw up. But she did. After reading the statement, Braun was asked if she contacted Watkins to apologize. Braun's response? "My words today speak for themselves.”

They certainly do.
