Countdown to Rahmageddon: The Man With the Plan

Rahm Emanuel's tips for surviving Tuesday arrived in our inboxes this morning. That, along with a couple of Chicagoistas forwarding it to us, got us thinking maybe we should share it with the class. It's a good complement to our list of things you need to ride the storm out.
- If you lose heat, become trapped, or need shelter, call 311 right away.
- Reach out to elderly or disabled friends, relatives, and neighbors to make sure they are safe. If you want to request a well-being check for anyone who you are not able to check on yourself, call 311.
- When shoveling snow outside, please don’t cover up any fire hydrants.
- Don't make any unnecessary trips outside. If something can wait till the weather improves, it's best to wait.
- If you must go outside, wear several layers of warm, dry clothing. Keep your extremities covered. Wear hats, gloves, winter boots, and warm socks.
- Finally, expect travel times on public transportation to increase dramatically. Give yourself some extra time to get around.
That was a short list of obvious.
