New Monthly, Temper, Brings Fresh Sounds to Beauty Bar

temper-web.jpg While some club nights around the city are celebrating impressive runs of longevity, others are just starting. Case-and-point is Temper, a brand new monthly at Beauty Bar focusing on UK funky, moombahton, tropical bass, soca, and future bass/garage. It's one of the myriad signs pointing towards Chicago's club-scene shift, and it was started by friend of the site and fellow clubgoer Mica Alaniz. Known for managing Ghetto Division, hosting a weekly radio show on WLUW, and generally being at every important club night in the city, Mica and her wide network of DJs/musicians will foster what looks to be a one-of-a-kind night in Chicago.

Although most nights need traction before booking international acts, Temper landed an impressive first bill. Its first headliner is Jillionaire of Diplo's Mad Decent label, or, as many people know him, Major Lazer's emcee. He'll be joined by Sonido Rampage y Nader (Ghetto Division), Brookah (of Fly By Night fame), and resident Sparkletone (who contributed our very first Chicagoist Mix). Overall, it looks to be a fantastic opening night for Temper; we're expecting some longevity out of this night as well.

Temper is tonight, Beauty Bar, 1444 W. Chicago Ave., FREE, 10p.m., 21+
