We learned a couple of things from Tuesday night's ill-fated "Screw the Blizzard" tweetup. First, Timberlands are only good for one hard winter, then need to be tossed. Second, The Beer Bistro makes a damn fine bowl of chili and buffalo chicken pizza. Third, they have specialty beers brewed for the bar from Brooklyn Brewery.

Their winter ale is a brown ale given some extra life for the Days of Hoth from nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, and other spices that made for a perfect winter warmer just as the thick of the storm was approaching. For a spiced ale, it's light, sweet, and goes down the gullet deceptively fast. Whenever they run out, they just put in another order and have it delivered through their distributor.

Thus spiced ale isn't the only beer Brooklyn Brewery makes specifically for the Beer Bistro. they also make a hefeweizen that will be tapped in a month or so
