Throughout the blizzaster, Rick Bayless was like a lighthouse in the storm. He kept his restaurants open, tweeting that anyone trapped downtown was welcome. In addition, he may be the only celebrity chef in history to brag about the accomplishments of his valet parking crew (Grover and Luis) - wonderful to give credit to everyone. And boy, do they deserve it! The valet parking crew created the official snowman, or "Blizzard 2011 mascot," for Frontera. Check after the jump for some great tweets.

Rick Bayless maintained optimism and energy throughout the storm. On Tuesday, he sent out this uplifting (and critical) missive: "My challenge 2 all the twttr Snow Storm Horror-mongers: Open yr eyes 2 beauty+gr8 stuff ppl R doing 2 help ea other! Chgo+Winter+good people."

When Bayless first tweeted out a picture of the snowman on Wednesday, we couldn't help but smile. After being stuck in our apartment with no power all of Tuesday night, seeing someone taking advantage of the storm to do something awesome was just the tonic we needed. Then, the snowman was hit by a bus! But they rebuilt it! The picture is from the rebuilt snowman - you can check his twitter feed for the rest of the pictures. And the award for best Tweet of the blizzard? To Ryan Poli of Perennial, in response to the news that the snowman had been hit by a bus. "We have the technology. We can rebuild him!!"
