Azari & III: One of House Music's Freshest Take to Debonair Social Club

By Jake Guidry in Arts & Entertainment on Feb 8, 2011 8:00PM

0217_chicago.jpg A few months back when Azari & III came to Smart Bar (a Weekend Dance Party pick at the time), all reports indicated a pretty lackluster night in terms of attendance. Which, you know, is a shame, considering Azari & III are one of the best emerging house music acts in the world. Lucky for us, Chicago's getting a mulligan and the Toronto-based duo are coming back, this time to Debonair Social Club as part of the Scion A/V Release Tour.

In the months since their last visit, Azari & III have gone about their business, remixing artists here and there and touring around the world. We've become fond of the '90s influence that permeates their work, a dutiful task in-and-of-itself. Azari & III reprise sounds once thought corny and put them into a fresh perspective. Imagine an updated version of Technotronic's "Pump Up The Jam" (we mean this in a good way). Joining Azari & III are Runaway, Blu Jemz and Kid Color. We're excited to see how hard they'll house the crowd, and judging by the support, it seems likely that this will be one of the highlights of the young year. Last but not least, in keeping with the trend of frugality, the night is free with RSVP.

Azari & III is Thursday, February 17, at Debonair Social Club, 1575 N Milwaukee, 10p.m., FREE with RSVP, 21+
