What is Going on at Sweets and Savories?

Back in January, Eater Chicago informed us that Sweets and Savories seemed to be closed. Their website was down, no one was answering the phone, and Eater heard rumors from a chef and a vendor that bills weren't being paid. We were unhappy, since we've enjoyed good meals at Sweets and Savories in the past. Today, we are hearing that they may be back open for business!

Open Table is still not accepting reservations for the restaurant (it is marked "temporarily offline) and their website, while up, has been taken over by some sort of Google ad gremlins. But, we just got an email from Groupon insisting that the restaurant is open for business and still taking coupons.

"There has recently been some confusion as to whether or not this business is still operating. We’re happy to let you know that we’ve confirmed that Sweets and Savories is open for business and accepting Groupons! They are open Tuesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for dinner and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for brunch."

We called to confirm, and the restaurant's voicemail message confirmed this information. Attempts to contact the owner, David Richards, have gone unanswered. Has anyone been there lately? Our suggestion? If you have a groupon or any other type of coupon for Sweets and Savories, use it right now or get it refunded. We hope the restaurant bounces back, but don't take any chances.

Sweets and Savories is located at 1534 West Fullerton Avenue. Call for reservations: (773) 281-6778
