Local Artist Turns Daley-Inspired Art Into T-Shirts

We've featured the "Mayor Daley Forever" artwork of Nick Adam in a couple of "Around Town" installments in recent months. Adam's work was also part of Chicago Urban Art Society's "The Daley Show" exhibition, which closed last month. Adam writes in his artist statement on "Mayor Daley Forever" that the project is equal parts tribute to His Elective Majesty and social commentary.

For the thirty-eight years he has dedicated his life to political office, twenty-two of them were invested as Mayor. Positions of public and political service are roles in our society of great honor yet of even greater duty. Decisions made by any of us impact our lives through the resulting effects. Often one effect will lead to another like a row of tumbling dominoes interchanging the rolls of cause and effect. The effects caused by public figures... specifically political figures have the percussive factor of forever. Far past any term of office impact exponentially grows. While Chicago has surpassed Daniel Burnham's 100 year plan his impact is felt every moment by every Chicagoan. Mayor Daley's dedication and work for Chicago will be seen, felt, and experienced through out our infrastructure and our lives. Impact of this immensity reverberates forever.

Adam is now selling the "Mayor Daley Forever" artwork in handy t-shirt form, for both those supporters of Daley and folks who find wearing it to be an ironic social statement. We're partial to the black t-shirt pictured above. Adam is also selling original signage from the project.
