Yesterday's Weather Not Quite Record-Setting, Still Impressive

By Chuck Sudo in News on Feb 18, 2011 2:02PM

So we have an idea of how today's weather is going to turn out, but what about yesterday's. The record high for Chicago for yesterday's date was set in 1880, with a temperature of 60 degrees. Yesterday's high was a close-but-no-cigar 56 degrees at O'Hare, which still made for good porch beer or front stoop weather, which is exactly what we did after we posted "Extra Extra" yesterday.

This month has been one for the record books, weather-wise. But, even though we just went through the third-largest blizzard in the city's history, the total snowfall for February 2011 (26.1 inches) is still short of the all-time high of 27.8 inches set in February 1896. BUt we still have a little more than 2 weeks to reach that.

Weather permitting, of course.
