It was a good night for Patrick Sharp who had three points and reached the 30-goal mark, but it was short lived as the Chicago Blackhawks gave Columbus their longest winning road streak in a 4-3 loss Friday night.
Patrick Kane also had three points but the Hawks still struggled in power plays, allowing two Blue Jackets power play goals in the second period. Corey Crawford saved 32 of 36 shots on goal.
The Hawks are on thin ice as they remain in 11th place tied in points (64) with Columbus.
Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville missed his second straight game after being hospitalized with gastrointestinal bleeding caused by an ulcer Wednesday morning, but has been in regular contact with his coaching staff. "I spoke with him this morning," Mike Haviland told the Associated Press. "You know he's actually going a little stir-crazy there. He was in great spirits."
There is no word yet on if Coach 'Q' will be back for Sunday's matchup vs. Pittsburgh.
