Sick or Just Hungover? Blackhawks' Kane Denies Reports

Headache, fever, muscle aches, chills, fatigue, cough, runny nose, loss of appetite, etc. etc. Having one or more of these symptoms could be the flu, which has spread rapidly throughout the Blackhawks’ locker room as of late.

Having one or more of the following symptoms could be that of a severe hangover: headache, nausea, fatigue, muscle aches, loss of appetite, dizziness, etc. etc. See any similarities? Deadspin.com sure did.

Patrick Kane missed practice Monday and Tuesday with ‘flulike symptoms.’ The web site claims that Kane closed out a bar in Chicago Sunday night and was more so hung-over than sick those two days. Soon enough photos emerged of Kane at a bar posing with women looking pretty intoxicated. The reader who sent them to Deadspin said they were taken late Sunday.

What does Kane have to say? He clearly knows that’s the kind of reputation he has around Chicago, so what does he expect? A very sniffly Kane told reporters after the Hawks’ 4-3 loss Friday night, “I don’t know where the pictures came from, if they’re from the summer or what. I guess that’s the kind of reputation I have around here where you’re sick for two days and people think you’re doing that stuff.”

A bad rep is right. Remember back in January of 2010 when Kane along with several teammates at the time was photographed shirtless in the company of several women in a limousine in Vancouver?

And how could anyone forget the Aug. 2009 incident when Kane was arrested after an incident with a Buffalo cab driver. Kane plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. Yeah, I’d say that’s not good publicity in these parts.

Deadspin has recently updated the article saying they heard from another person who partied with Kane on Sunday and Kane was drinking Sambuca and buying rounds of Jägermeister shots.

At the end of it all Kane says, “I’m here to play hockey. That’s what I love doing, especially this time of year. I’m focused on what this team needs to do and what I have to do. That’s all I’ll say about that.”
