Earwax Café Closing at End of Month

By Chuck Sudo in Food on Feb 21, 2011 5:40PM

Earwax Café, the vegan-friendly Wicker Park institution that for over 20 years managed to survive the neighborhood's transformation from working-class ghetto to artist ghetto to upscale condo ghetto, is reported to be closing at the end of the month, according to Wicker Park Bucktown Insiders Guide.

We placed a call to a busy sounding Earwax this morning and the man who picked up the phone said that he wasn't in a position to comment, but that an official announcement regarding the café's future would be forthcoming. Vegans, in particular, will be the most affected by Earwax's loss. Our vegetarian foodie, John DiGilio, swears by Earwax's seitan rueben. earwax was also a nice place to hang out, with its quirky artwork and boutique video selection.
