Rob Halpin, who became the nightmare tenant of Mayor-elect Emanuel's Ravenswood home tells Michael Sneed that he wouldn't mind renewing the lease on it when it expires in June. We needed a good laugh this morning, and the self-described "Catholic boy from the North side" provides.

“The lease is up at the end of June 2011. I doubt that they would move back here, as it is a long way from City Hall and the Latin School, where we heard their children may attend.

“It is also a security nightmare as the house has abundant glass and open space. If they wanted us to stay on we would consider it. There aren’t any hard feelings on our part.”

For what it's worth, Emanuel told Sneed that he has every intention of moving back into the home that was the focus of the failed residency challenge to his mayoral campaign. As far as security issues, we're fairly certain the 24-hour security detail that will be assigned to the Hermitage House will mitigate all that abundant glass and open space. Better start looking for new homes to lease in the Reader and Craigslist now.
