Morning Box Score: Hawks Stay Hot, Win Shootout Over Phoenix

By Chuck Sudo in News on Feb 28, 2011 3:45PM

When the games matter most, that's when you want your best players to step up. That's exactly what Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews did last night against the Phoenix Coyotes at the United Center. Toews scored twice in regulation and tallied the only goal in the shootout round as the Blackhawks continued their hot streak with a 4-3 win over the Coyotes. The win makes four straight for the Hawks and five of six. Captain Serious also has a five-game scoring streak in that span.

The shootout round was facilitated after Phoenix roared back from a 3-1 second period deficit, but Corey Crawford held fast between the pipes the rest of the way. Marian Hossa also scored for the Hawks.
