2011_3_2_bebop_brass.jpg In addition to programming the Chicago Jazz Festival, the Jazz Institute of Chicago engages in educational outreach, conducting workshops and seminars, and hosting concerts throughout the city, especially along its farthest reaches in neighborhoods like Englewood, South Shore, and Austin.

One of the regular free concert series hosted by JIC is "Be Bop Brass," a recital series with a rotating horn section featuring the likes of trumpeter Corey Wilkes and Victor Garcia, trombonists Jeb Bishop and Audrey Morrison, under the leadership of pianist Ken Chaney. Be Bop Brass' next performance is March 11 at 7 p.m. at the fieldhouse of LaFollette Park on the West Side (1333 N. Laramie). As with most of these concerts presented by the JIC, this is a free show.
