Programming Notes: Redesign Launches 3/14

Last month we told you of some upcoming changes to the site's layout that will be happening throughout the Gothamist network. Any readers who may have moseyed over to Gothamist this week already know the redesign is a go. So when will Chicagoist undergo the redesign? Try March 14. That's the target date for the new design to roll out here and for LAist, SFist, and DCist.
Unlike the much-maligned Gawker redesign, we'll be offering you some layout options so that you can ease your way into what we're calling the "pretty" layout. From the 14th through the end of the month, the default view mode for Chicagoist will be the standard blog format you're looking at now. On April 1, we'll default to the new design, but you'll still have the option to view the site in the current format.
We're trying to stay atop this so that, unlike the Disqus comment rollout and the summary RSS feeds, you're not being blindsided. Hopefully, this redesign rollout goes more smoothly than those.
