Happy Birthday Chicago!!!

By Chuck Sudo in Miscellaneous on Mar 4, 2011 9:40PM

Today marks the 174th anniversary of the incorporation of Chicago as a city. As with most things that reach such a mature age, it's pretty hard to shop for gifts. Still, we put together a wish list of things we could give Chicago on its big day, if we were in a position to do so.

  • A little botox or concealer for the crater-sized potholes on her streets we've been driving over lately.

  • A public transportation system that can take her residents anywhere in the area they need to go, efficiently and reliably.

  • Shots to clear up her nasty Asian carp infection.

  • While a centralized music district would be nice, we'd settle for a city that isn't antagonistic to music clubs.

  • More running/cycling paths and a wider lakefront path.

  • A well-balanced budget and free parking.

  • An offensive line for her football team.

  • Fully loaded food trucks.

  • Some skinny jeans, black rimmed glasses and a tweed hat since she's apparently hip now.

  • A new mayor... oh, wait.
