Deborah J. Cox, 58, of Naperville was arrested on Thursday and charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student who graduated in June from Neuqua Valley High School, police said via the Chicago Sun-Times. Cox is a former teacher's aide at the school. The investigation initially began as a tip to the Naperville police last August.

Cox was an academic tutor for the student for several years, but police noted that their relationship only took place between January and May of last year. Cox is not accused of being involved with any other students and police do not believe that her contact with the student occurred on school grounds. She is scheduled to appear in Will County Court on April 4 and is currently free on $5,000 bond, police said.
