- A family wondering what happened to their 25-year-old son who had been missing since Jan. 31 were shocked on Saturday to learn he had been arrested for murder.
- Two men have been charged with predatory criminal sexual assault after police say the pair allegedly assaulted an 11-year-old girl attending a sleepover at the home of one of the suspects.

- An autopsy has concluded that a man found buried and decomposed in a wooded area in East Chicago was the victim of foul play.
- A man sentenced to 30 years in prison was compared to the Charles Dickens character Fagin by the judge because he convinced two teenagers to rob a dollar store in Hanover Park, leading to the stabbing death of a store clerk.
