Quinn Signs "Amazon Tax" Into Law

Gov. Quinn today signed into law House Bill 3659, which will require all online retailers with a physical presence in the state to collect state sales tax on all online purchases.

Amazon.com, which would be affected by this HB 3659, has said that it would cease its affiliate program with websites companies in Illinois in order to not collect sales tax. State Senate President John Cullerton has said the bill would generate $150 million in tax revenue for the state.
