Haley Pelock, 19, of Chicago Heights was shot dead on Friday night inside a Chicago Heights home. She was believed to be home for Spring Break from college. As of late Saturday, police were questioning a person of interest. An autopsy of Pelock determined that she died of a gunshot wound to the chest. Her death was ruled to be a homicide.

Police responded to the call at 7:30 p.m. and were told by Pelock's boyfriend, Ryan Fantasia, 20, who lives at the home, that she had been shot. She was found lying on the floor of a second-floor bedroom with another man, John Fantasia, 30, of the same address, trying to administer CPR. Pelock was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:50 p.m. Chicago Heights Police Capt. Jeffrey Bohlen said to the Chicago Sun-Times that he and his daughter knew the victim personally. "She was a peach, an absolute peach. She was an absolutely beautiful girl," Bohlen said. "It's a tragedy." As of Saturday, no charges have been filed.
