Fire Near Loyola Injures 11

An extra-alarm broke out in an apartment building near Loyola University today and injured 11 (or 12, according to the Sun-Times), two critically.
The fire at the single room occupancy building at 6244 N. Winthrop became a 2-11 fire around 10 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find people jumping out of second and third-floor windows in the four-story building. LAdders were used to rescue two people on the roof of the building. A 37-year-old factory worker was among the more seriously injured when he jumped from a third-floor window.
