Groupon Now Selling Movie Tickets

Groupon is selling discounted tickets to Friday's opening of The Lincoln Lawyer, a legal thriller starring Mathew McConaughey, as part of a deal with movie studio Lionsgate and film production company Lakeshore Entertainment.

How this will translate to the weekend box office is uncertain. But so far the two-day deal has sold over 400 tickets each in Chicago, Washington, DC and New York, which indicates that everyone loves a deal, even for a movie they haven't seen yet. The deal is part of Groupon's plan to offer nationwide deals to increase their subscriber base. A larger base means they can better tailor deals and target subscribers with different daily deals.
