George, Pfleger Discuss Possible Post St. Sabina Options

Rev. Michael Pfleger, the normally loquacious pastor of St. Sabina Church, is keeping mum about reports that he and Cardinal Francis George recently discussed the possibility of him moving on from the Auburn-Gresham church he's used as a pulpit in more ways than one for over 30 years.
CBS 2 is reporting that an announcement is expected later today about the controversial priest's future and whether it includes St. Sabina. They also report that, among the options Pfleger and George discussed was for Pfleger to take over struggling Leo High School, down the street from St. Sabina.
Although Pfleger hasn't spoken on the record about his talk with the head of Chicago's Catholic church, a video aired by CBS 2 showed Pfleger telling his congregation, "I love being your pastor and I love being your shepherd, but you’re looking at a man [who] made a choice [to] hold onto God, wherever God takes me." This probably will be cold comfort for Pfleger's loyal laity, who are already pleading as a group for Pfleger to stay at St. Sabina.
