Taste Ancient Brews at Bluebird

By Anthony Todd in Food on Mar 22, 2011 5:20PM

2011_3_22_Bluebird Logo.jpg The beer wizards at Bluebird have put together a tasting designed to take you through 7000 years of beer history, serving beers that replicate a variety of ancient and modern techniques to showcase the development of brewing. If that sounds pretty dry and nerdy, ignore that first part: Bluebird is going to serve lots of different, interesting beers, at a very reasonable price. According to Bluebird, this will be "One of the only chances this year to taste smoked, blended, sour, & funky 'brews' that transcend history all on the same night." All of that education and drinking, and it'll only cost $30/person.

Reservations are recommended, and we have a sneaking suspicion that this event will sell out. We had a chance to visit Bluebird for the first time a few weeks ago, and it immediately shot to the top of our list of drinking spots. It's got a friendly, vibrant atmosphere, good food and solid cocktails, and a beer list that needs its own binding. So, if there was anyplace we would go for a nerdy beerfest, it would be Bluebird. The tasting is on March 29 from 7:30-9:30, and snacks will be served alongside the beer.

If you want to reserve a spot, call the restaurant or email info@bluebirdchicago.com.

Bluebird is located at 1749 North Damen Avenue.
