A Homer Glen man was sentenced to 30 months probation and 150 hours of community service after he killed his brother's cat. 31-year-old Sean Mulcahy slit the throat of his brother's cat Lucifer as retaliation for discovering that his brother was sleeping with his fiancee. That's not "eye for an eye" justice. That's a serious flaw in logic, compounded by Mulcahy's anger issues and excessive drinking at the time he decided to take the phrase "killing the pussy" literally.

Ryan Mulcahy received a text message and photo of the dead cat last August after the brothers had been fighting. Will County Sheriff's officers found Lucifer in a ditch and blood on the driveway of the home the Mulcahy brothers shared. Sean Mulcahy was later arrested for the crime when he returned home. Will County prosecutors sought a 90-day jail term for Sean Mulcahy, arguing that animal cruelty was changed to a felony under Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow and citing Sean Mulcahy's prior record, which included a 2002 conviction for criminal damage to property, and a 2009 conviction for reckless driving, surmizing that it showed a pattern of violence and anger.
