Ryan Mulcahy received a text message and photo of the dead cat last August after the brothers had been fighting. Will County Sheriff's officers found Lucifer in a ditch and blood on the driveway of the home the Mulcahy brothers shared. Sean Mulcahy was later arrested for the crime when he returned home. Will County prosecutors sought a 90-day jail term for Sean Mulcahy, arguing that animal cruelty was changed to a felony under Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow and citing Sean Mulcahy's prior record, which included a 2002 conviction for criminal damage to property, and a 2009 conviction for reckless driving, surmizing that it showed a pattern of violence and anger.
