Pinetop Perkins wasn't the only musician with Chicago ties to pass away Monday. Loleatta Holloway died at the age of 64 after a brief illness.

Ms. Holloway started out in gospel music singing with her mother in the Holloway Community Singers. Later she recorded with Albertina Walker as a member of the Caravans. She came to soul music later when she met Floyd Smith, who would become her producer, manager and husband. The song for which Ms. Holloway is best known for is the 1980 disco classic "Love Sensation," which has been remixed and sampled by so many other acts that hearing the original is a shock to the system.
